The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Dairy Team will host its annual Dairy Discussions Seminar on Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ISU Extension and Outreach Sioux County office in Orange City.

Topics will include a discussion of how many replacement heifers are needed plus the importance of minimizing heat stress with NE Iowa Dairy Specialist Jenn Bentley; an update on the ISU dairy research herd at Ames with Miguel Rangel; and risk management strategies and the dairy market outlook with NW Iowa Extension Dairy Specialist Fred M. Hall.

This year’s event will discuss opportunities and challenges to adding value to dairy calves and dairy beef cross calves. Producers will also share their experiences from feeding to breeding during a panel discussion. Midwest Dairy and Beef Day is open to all beef producers, dairy producers, students and industry persons.
