DESCRIPTION:The I-29 Moo University is hosting a webinar on Thursday\, December 20 that will focus on preparing the information that lenders will ask for. The “Improving Conversations With Your Lender” webinar will outline and explain the banking benchmarks and financial documents that lenders need to evaluate loans. The webinar is scheduled for 60 minutes beginning at 11 a.m. and will include time for questions at the end of the webinar. \nIn addition\, the program will focus on improving enterprise expense breakdowns and identify follow-up information that is available.\nSouth Dakota State University Extension Livestock Business Management Field Specialist Heather Gessner will present the information. She grew up on a diversified operation raising cattle and hogs\, as well as corn\, soybeans\, oats and alfalfa. DESCRIPTION:Join the Northeast Iowa Dairy Foundation for the annual one-day bus trip to World Dairy Expo in Madison\, Wis.\, on Friday\, Oct. 5. \nFriday’s event highlights at World Dairy Expo include the International Guernsey Show\, International Red & White Show\, International Holstein Heifer Show\, forage seminars and virtual farm tours. Attendees will have ample time to watch the dairy cattle shows and visit with over 800 exhibitors from around the world at the trade show. \nDairy farmers\, industry members and any others interested are welcome to sign up for the trip. Cost to travel on the bus is $25 for lifetime members of the Dairy Foundation and $50 for non-members. The cost includes transportation\, breakfast\, admission into World Dairy Expo and supper. The bus will depart from Iowa’s Dairy Center south of Calmar at 6 a.m. on Friday morning and will return around 8:30 p.m. that evening. To help them accomplish this\, the Iowa Beef Center and Iowa Extension Dairy Team are hosting the NW IA Corn Silage Clinic on August 28 at the Northwest Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm in Sutherland. \n“The NW Iowa Corn Silage Clinic will feature top experts from the upper Midwest with the most current information on topics that affect corn silage and earlage quality and economics\,” notes ISU Extension Dairy Field Specialist Fred M. Hall. Presentations will begin promptly at 9 am and will break at 12 noon for lunch. The program will adjourn by 3:30. Each expert will be available to answer questions. \nTopics and speakers include: \n\nAgronomic practices impacting corn silage digestion- Dr. Fred Owens\, feedlot nutrition specialist.\nSilage and kernel processing equipment- Aaron Ostrander\, John Deere silage specialist.\nSilage additives and inoculants- Dr. Scott Dennis\, Pioneer.\nEvaluating corn silage and earlage: What’s typical\, Dr. Dan Loy\, ISU Beef Center director.\nQuality corn silage going in and coming out\, Dr. Hugo Ramirez\, ISU dairy specialist.\nPricing corn silage\, Dr. William Edwards\, retired ISU ag economist.\nIn addition\, there will be two concurrent session featuring feeding corn products to the beef animal with Owens and feeding corn products to the dairy cow with Ramirez.\n\nProducers will also be able to walk through corn silage variety plots and talk with seed company technicians. “In addition\, there is a trade show which will allow producers to compare equipment and products used in putting up quality silage\,” says ISU Extension Beef Field Specialist Beth Doran. \nRegistration is $25\, with payment at the door. The kids will enjoy the chance to pet calves\, plus families can visit several educational exhibits\, milk a cow and see robots milk cows. Come join us and see how Iowa’s Dairy Center is growing! \nThis year we will be serving up Dad’s Belgian Waffles\, sausage and of course delicious dairy products such as milk\, cheese\, yogurt and ice cream produced and processed right here in Northeast Iowa.
