Tour stops include: \n\nTrans Ova Genetics: Providing industry-leading reproductive technologies and expertise\, Trans Ova works closely with clients to understand breeding goals and help advance and extend superior genetics.\nStensland Family Farms Creamery: A family-owned 200-cow dairy and creamery that produces freshly bottled milk\, ice cream\, aged cheese and cheese curds.\nCentral Plains Dairy Expo: The biggest all-dairy trade show between Madison and Tulare that includes a free welcome reception\, concert and trade show with 300 exhibitors from all over the United States.\nGehl Manufacturing: Located on 34 acres\, the 260\,000-square-foot Madison site is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility equipped with laser cutters and robotic welders.\nRock Bottom Dairy: First generation dairy farmers purchased an older 100-cow dairy and expanded their farm to 1\,800 Jersey cows.\nGreat Heritage Holsteins: A 50-cow registered Holstein dairy that has bred over 100 Excellent cows and has exhibited cattle at the district\, state and national level.\n\nCost is based on the number of people her hotel room. \n\n$219* for four people per hotel room\n$239* for three people per hotel room\n$269* for two people per hotel room\n$369* for one person per hotel room\n\nA $100 non-refundable deposit is due March 8 to hold your spot.\n*Prices are variable based on number of participants. He joined the department faculty in 1980. He works closely with both the Dairy and Poultry Extension teams. He has written extensively on ventilation\, air quality\, heat stress\, odors\, biofilters and biosecurity associated with animal agriculture. He teaches an air quality and pollution control engineering course. \nKim Clark is a Dairy Extension Educator at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She joined Extension in 2015 and began the dairy extension program in Nebraska. Kim works closely with dairy producers across Nebraska. Her focus is on calf health and nutrition and animal welfare. Kim is a Dairy FARM evaluator and PAACO Dairy Stewardship certified. \nJim Salfer is a Regional Extension Educator with University of Minnesota Extension. Salfer has served in his present position for 22 years. He has been involved on farm research projects studying robotic milking systems and automatic calf feeders. DESCRIPTION:Join the Northeast Iowa Dairy Foundation for the annual one-day bus trip to World Dairy Expo in Madison\, Wis.\, on Friday\, Oct. 5. \nFriday’s event highlights at World Dairy Expo include the International Guernsey Show\, International Red & White Show\, International Holstein Heifer Show\, forage seminars and virtual farm tours. Attendees will have ample time to watch the dairy cattle shows and visit with over 800 exhibitors from around the world at the trade show. \nDairy farmers\, industry members and any others interested are welcome to sign up for the trip. Cost to travel on the bus is $25 for lifetime members of the Dairy Foundation and $50 for non-members. The cost includes transportation\, breakfast\, admission into World Dairy Expo and supper. The bus will depart from Iowa’s Dairy Center south of Calmar at 6 a.m. on Friday morning and will return around 8:30 p.m. that evening. Pick-up locations also include Postville and Prairie du Chien\, Wis. To help them accomplish this\, the Iowa Beef Center and Iowa Extension Dairy Team are hosting the NW IA Corn Silage Clinic on August 28 at the Northwest Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm in Sutherland. \n“The NW Iowa Corn Silage Clinic will feature top experts from the upper Midwest with the most current information on topics that affect corn silage and earlage quality and economics\,” notes ISU Extension Dairy Field Specialist Fred M. Hall. Presentations will begin promptly at 9 am and will break at 12 noon for lunch. The program will adjourn by 3:30.
