Mike Naig
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture
Mike Naig was elected as the 15th Iowa Secretary of Agriculture in November 2018 and was reelected in November 2022. He previously served as the Deputy Secretary at the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. He is a graduate of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake with degrees in biology and political science. Secretary Naig grew up on a family farm in the northwest corner of the state near Cylinder, Iowa and he continues to be involved in the operation today.
Chad Hart, Ph.D.
Professor of Economics, Iowa State University
Chad Hart was born and raised in southwest Missouri. His parents raised a few cattle and operated a small meat locker. He received a B.S. in economics with minors in mathematics, history, and astronomy from Southwest Missouri State University in 1991. He received a Ph.D. in economics and statistics in 1999 from Iowa State University. Chad became a faculty member at Iowa State in 2008. He is a professor in economics, extension economist, and the crop markets specialist for the university.
Brian Tapp
Vice President, Value-Added Agriculture, Iowa Area Development Group
Brian Tapp has a strong background in economic development, finance, business advising, and value-added agriculture. His experience includes leading the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission and Central Arizona Association of Governments; SBA Loan officer; and Value Added Agriculture, Farm Food and Enterprise Development at Iowa State University.
Gregg Doud
President and CEO, National Milk Producers Federation
Gregg Doud is NMPF’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Before arriving at NMPF he served as the Chief Agricultural Negotiator in the Office of the United States Trade Representative from 2018-2021; before that, he served as the president of the Commodity Markets Council. He also has served as a staff member for the United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, where he helped draft the 2012 Farm Bill, and as chief economist for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. Most recently, he worked at Aimpoint Research as its Vice President of Global Situational Awareness and Chief Economist.
